2025 Summer Bootcamp
Interdisciplinary Quantitative Biology Summer Boot Camp
Introduction to Basic Statistical Analysis Methods for Biomedical Researchers
The Rutgers Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (RAD) Collaboratory in partnership with the Rutgers Office of Statistical Consulting invite you to apply for the "Introduction to Basic Statistical Analysis for Biomedical Researchers" course. The RAD Collaboratory is a New Brunswick Chancellor Signature Initiative overseen by the Office of the Vice Provost for Research (OVPR) that fosters collaborative data science and artificial intelligence/machine learning research, student programming, and community engagement in partnership with related initiatives across Rutgers.
This one-credit summer course provides biomedical researchers with a foundational understanding of essential statistical analysis methods. The course covers fundamental concepts, including descriptive statistics, probability distributions, hypothesis testing, p-value, t-test, Chi-squared test, confidence interval, power analysis, and basic regression models. The course also introduces non-parametric tests, such as the Wilcoxon rank-sum test and the Kruskal-Wallis test, for data that do not meet parametric assumptions. Emphasis is placed on practical applications using real-world biomedical data, with hands-on exercises in statistical software. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the necessary skills to interpret statistical results and apply appropriate methods in their research. No prior statistical background is required.
Registration is limited. Application process details below.
Dates: June 2-6, 2025
